The last rifle shot rang out moments ago, to be followed with cursing and the clatter of the weapon being tossed aside. His prey comes forth to mock him. He is stuck, and sinking into the sand of the dry creek bed. The water must be flowing underground. He thinks, "There is a chance, that if I beg,  that she will foolishly save me, and then I will have her!" Behind his back he douses his bandanna with a vial of chloroform. The Jungle girl, stands well out of reach, She is proud, Defiant. The kind who could be goaded into being a hero, the kind who could be tricked into saving his life.

The Jungle Girl spoke down to the foolish "big game hunter" who had been hunting her, "Now you will know the justice of the jungle! The very earth swallows you alive. I condemn you to your fate, drown in the quicksand!"

A while after she had stopped watching him sink, she left. His begging falling on deaf ears. As the he drew his last breath above the surface he thought to himself, "I guess not"...
